What

Family Weekend is held each fall to give parents, families and supporters the opportunity to spend time with their students, experience life at KU, and explore the city of Lawrence.  

When

September 26-28, 2025.

Lodging

As hotels in Lawrence tend to book quickly, check out Explore Lawrence for helpful visitor information. Many families also stay in nearby cities such as Topeka , Olathe, Lenexa, and Kansas City. 

Registration

Registration opens Monday, June 9 at 12pm CST, and closes Monday September 1 at 5:00pm CST. We encourage you to register early.  

  • Students must also be registered participants; parents are able to register their students.
  • Registration includes admission to most activities. Parking, football tickets and select events require additional costs.

Schedule of Events

Friday, September 26- Family Weekend Kick Off  

Start the weekend with a warm Jayhawk welcome. Enjoy light refreshments, grab your Family Weekend materials, and connect with fellow KU families and staff. Throughout the day experience life at KU and in Lawrence.   

 

Saturday, September 27-Game Day on The Hill  

Join the KU community as one of our most spirited traditions! Enjoy tailgating and cheer on the Jayhawks at the football game as we play the University of Cincinnati Bearcats.

 

Sunday, September 28 -Brunch & Blues  

Close out the weekend with a relaxing brunch and say farewell to your students and receive a special Family Weekend departure gift.
